The ASTM standard is formulated by the American Institute of materials and testing. ASTM material standards can include chemical, mechanical, physical and electrical properties of materials. These standards include the description of test methods for building materials, and the size and shape of these materials. Local laws require that concrete and other building materials meet the ASTM standard before construction. It is widely used in ASTM A53 and ASTM A106.

ASME is the standard of the American Society of mechanical engineers. ASME material specification is based on ASTM, AWS and other recognized national and international standards promulgated standards. ASME standards are legitimate when building infrastructures such as bridges, power plants, pipes and boilers.  ASME B16.5 is widely used.

ASTM is responsible for developing and reformulating standards for new and old materials. Because it is a test and material association.

ASME will selectively absorb and filter the use of these relevant standards and make modifications to improve them.

ASTM is an American material standard, similar to domestic GB713

ASME is a design specification, but ASME is a complete system.
