Characteristics of steel pipes

Date:2022-08-11    View:1799  Tags:Characteristics of steel pipes
The production technology of the steel pipe industry not only develops rapidly, but also brings forth the new. The steel pipe production occupies an irreplaceable position in the steel industry.

Steel pipe classification:

According to the production method, it can be divided into two categories: seamless steel pipe and welded steel pipe.

According to the tube material (ie steel type), it can be divided into: carbon tube, alloy tube, stainless steel tube, etc.

According to the connection method of the pipe end, it can be divided into: bare pipe (the pipe end is not threaded) and silk pipe (the pipe end is threaded).

According to the characteristics of surface coating, it can be divided into: black tube (uncoated) and coated tube.

Classification by use: 1. Pipes for pipes. 2. Tubes for thermal equipment. 3. Pipes for machinery industry. 4. Pipes for petroleum geological drilling. 5. Pipes for chemical industry.

6. Other departments use pipes.

According to the shape of the cross section, it can be divided into: round steel pipe and special-shaped steel pipe.

Characteristics of steel pipes:

(1) Conveying fluid: It has a closed hollow geometric shape and can be used as a conveying pipeline for liquid, gas and solid.

(2) Structural parts: Under the same weight, the steel pipe has a larger section modulus than other steels, that is to say, it has greater bending and torsion resistance, and is an economical section steel and a high-efficiency steel.

The basic method of steel pipe production

The general mode of steel pipe production is: blank → forming → finishing → primary finished product → reprocessing → secondary finished product.

Generally, the production process is determined according to the requirements of the product, and the production equipment is selected.

According to the difference of forming, it can be divided into seamless pipe production and seamed pipe production, while cold working belongs to the secondary production of pipes.

Hot-rolled seamless tube: solid tube blank → perforation → extension → diameter reduction → cooling → finishing. Welded pipe: sheet and strip blank → forming (tube and tube shape) → welding into pipe → finishing.

Technical requirements and development trend of steel pipes

(1) The high corrosion resistance of various corrosive media, and the higher and higher requirements for high temperature strength and low temperature toughness, make the chemical composition of pipe products change constantly, and the smelting and processing technology continue to improve.

(2) The requirements of pipe product size (wall thickness accuracy) and shape accuracy have prompted the continuous progress of online detection and automatic control technology.

(3) The requirement to reduce the cost of pipe products makes its production process develop towards the direction of short process and near-finish molding. ⑷ The general trend of requirements for pipe products is high quality, low cost, high efficiency and low consumption.

 Hot-rolled seamless steel pipe production

Automatic tube rolling mill production process: Automatic tube rolling mill production process: cold centering) (cold centering) heating tube blank → heating → hot centering → piercing → tube rolling → tube blank → heating → hot centering → piercing → rolling Tube → equalizing and sizing and reheating → reducing diameter → cooling → straightening → pipe cutting → reheating → reducing diameter → cooling → straightening → pipe cutting → heat treatment → inspection → heat treatment → inspection → storage

Preparation of tube blanks

According to the piercing method, rolling method and pipe material, the following four kinds of blanks are generally used:

(1) Continuous casting round billet: It is the most widely used billet in the world, and it is also one of the symbols to measure the technical level of a country's steel pipe production. It has the characteristics of low cost, low energy consumption, stable structure and performance, etc. It is the mainstream of the development of tube blanks and the primary condition for continuous rolling of steel tubes.
(2) Rolling billets: generally round billets, which are often used in production.
(3) Cast (ingot) billet: mainly square (ingot) billet, used for P.P.M rolling method (or pressure piercing).
(4) Forging billet: used for the production of alloy steel and high alloy steel pipe with poor perforation performance.
The technical standard of the tube blank is implemented according to the technical standard of the country or enterprise, including chemical composition, cross-sectional shape, geometric size, internal organization, mechanical properties and other factors.
