Site requirements for casing pipe operation

On site, downhole operations should be performed in accordance with API RP 5C1. Prior to use, casing pipes must be prepared and inspected. Thread grease and pliers with a torque control system should comply with API BUL 5A2. Specific operational requirements are as follows.

Inspection of Newly Delivered Casing Pipes:

Check for any harmful defects as specified in API Spec 5CT.

Ensure tests are conducted within the methods and operating ranges outlined in the standard.

Thread Protection:

All casing pipes, whether new, used, or repaired, must always be threaded with a protective wire.

Place casing pipes on a stone-free, sand, or clean mud surface (excluding normal drilling mud) on a bench, plank, or metal surface.

If casing pipes are accidentally dragged into the soil, re-clean the threads before use.

Handling Long Oil and Casing Strings:

Use sliding type elevators for long oil and casing strings.

Ensure the chuck and slip are clean, undamaged, and properly fitted.

For heavy oil casing strings, use extra-long slips and ensure the chuck is level.

Hoisting Hook Inspection:

Check the bearing surface for uneven wear.

Uneven wear can cause the hoop side to rise and the coupling piece to be at risk.

Distribute the load evenly across the bearing surface when under load.

Checking Chucks and Elevators:

Ensure the chucks on the chuck and elevator release together.

Failure to do so may result in denting or slipping of the tube.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the safe and efficient operation of downhole activities, maintaining the integrity of the casing pipes throughout the process.
