This seamless steel pipe is manufactured from X42 pipeline steel and fully complies with the API 5L Grade B specifications set by the American Petroleum Institute. It is engineered for fluid transportation systems in the oil, natural gas, and chemical industries.

 

X42 pipeline steel is a low-carbon microalloyed material produced using a thermomechanical controlled process (TMCP) that combines controlled rolling and cooling. The resulting steel features a uniform microstructure, fine grain size, and an excellent balance of strength and toughness. With a tensile strength of 415–565 MPa and a yield strength of≥290 MPa, the pipe performs reliably under complex geological conditions and dynamic loading environments.

 

A key advantage of this seamless steel pipe lies in its grooved connection design. The pipe ends are precisely machined using specialized equipment to form standard grooves with a dimensional accuracy of±0.2 mm. When paired with high-strength rubber gaskets and mechanical clamps, the system ensures a quick, secure, and leak-proof connection. Compared with traditional welding, grooved connections eliminate the need for hot work, improve installation efficiency by over three times, and simplify future maintenance and disassembly. These advantages make it ideal for urban utility networks, industrial facilities, and other projects that demand high safety standards and tight construction schedules.

 

In terms of material performance, the API 5L Gr.B standard imposes strict limits on harmful elements such as sulfur (S≤0.030%) and phosphorus (P≤0.030%), and requires Charpy V-notch impact testing to ensure impact energy≥27 J at -20°C. This guarantees the pipe’s resistance to brittle fracture under low-temperature and impact conditions. Additionally, each pipe undergoes comprehensive quality inspections, including ultrasonic testing (UT) and hydrostatic testing, to ensure 100% operational safety and reliability throughout its service life.
