DIN 30670 is a polyethylene coating on steel pipes and fittings. Requirements and testing.

This standard specifies the factory application of three extruded polyethylene coating requirements, as well as one or more sintered polyethylene coating of steel pipe and pipe corrosion protection. The coating is used for underground or underwater steel pipe at -40 ° C +80 ° C. This standard specifies the requirements for the coating of seamless steel pipe and fittings for vertical or spiral seam welding or pipelines for the transport of gas or liquid Design temperature protection is appropriate. The use of this standard ensures that the PE coating provides adequate protection against mechanical, thermal and chemical loads that occur during handling, shipping, storage and installation. DIN EN ISO 21809-1 specifies the use of three-tier extruded polyethylene and polypropylene-coated steel tubes at international level for oil and gas pipeline transportation systems. The following fields of application are not subject to DIN EN ISO 21809-1: - All polyethylene-coated steel pipes and fittings for the transport and distribution of water and wastewater, - All liquid and gaseous media based on polyethylene-coated steel pipes and fittings for distribution pipes, - Polyethylene coatings and fittings for single-layer and multi-layer sintered steel pipes for transport pipelines and pipelines This standard is valid for the above applications. In December 2003, a two-layer polyethylene coating at the European standard level was standardized in DIN EN 10288.

The material should be chosen according to the choice of coating machine, because depending on the installation and coating procedures, the various materials may be used to meet the minimum requirements of the finished coating as specified in this standard. Any deviation of the material used by the purchaser shall be subject to the consent of the purchaser and the surface shall be removed by sandblasting. Blast cleaning and any necessary follow-up shall not reduce the minimum wall thickness specified in the standard for delivery of steel pipe technology. Residual abrasive should be removed before painting.
