The advantages of straight seam welded pipe compared with
seamless steel pipe are as follows:
(a) High dimensional accuracy. The diameter and wall thickness of the welded steel pipe are much smaller than those of the seamless steel pipe. Because the strip rolling and the pipe forming are easy to control, the dimensional accuracy is high.
b) Good mechanical properties. The control of the welded steel pipe is easy to roll. With the welding technology and the on-line heat treatment technology, the performance of the weld seam can be controlled, so the straight seam welded steel pipe is 10% higher than the elongation of the seamless steel pipe by 8%, because the straight seam Welding is less than 12% lower tube carbon content than a seamless tube.
c) Straight seam welded steel pipes with high concentricity and uniform wall thickness. Heat treatment after welding, uniform microstructure, with a strong collapse capacity.
Due to the good ductility of the steel, the sister tube compression test of the straight seam sewing machine is superior to the seamless steel pipe test.
(e) Longitudinal welded pipes have higher impact toughness than seamless steel pipes.
Longitudinal resistance welded pipes are not welded to dissimilar metals but are subjected to stringent on-line heat treatment, thus the basic performance and material properties of the weld.
