There are more standards for steel products in the United States, mainly in the following categories:
ANSI - the national standard of the United States
AISI - American Steel Standards Association
ASTM - American Association for testing and materials
ASME American Society of Mechanical Engineers
AMS - aviation material specification (one of the most commonly used material specifications in the US aviation industry, developed by SAE)
API - American Petroleum Institute standard
AWS - American Welding Association standard
SAE - American Auto Engineer Association standard
MIL - American military standards
QQ - American federal government standards
API - American Petroleum Institute standard
ANSI - the national standard of the United States
ASME American Society of Mechanical Engineers
ASTM - American Association for testing and materials
These
steel standards are all part of the US steel standards. Materials such as ASME are all derived from ASTM, standard reference valves in API and fittings in ANSI standard. The difference lies in the different emphasis of the industry, so different standards are adopted. API, ASTM, and ASME are members of ANSI. Most of the standards of the National Institute of standards come from professional standards. On the other hand, professional associations, associations and groups can also formulate certain product standards according to the existing national standards. Of course, we can not formulate our own standards in accordance with national standards. The ANSI standard is voluntary. The United States believes that mandatory standards may limit productivity growth. But standards are generally mandatory by law and government departments.
